Biography
Based in East Dorset, Shabby Road is an acoustic covers trio founded in late 2024 by three highly experienced musicians. Between us we share almost 100 years of live music experience and thousands of gigs.
Featuring former members of Jak the Lad and Red Diesel, we blend acoustic guitars, electric bass, harmonica and rich vocal harmonies to create a warm, versatile sound — perfect for upbeat pub nights, relaxed afternoon sessions, private parties and corporate events.
Covering the golden era from the 1960s to the 1990s, our repertoire stretches across Rock, Pop, Soul, Reggae and Ska. Whether you want a packed Saturday-night singalong or a laid-back summer afternoon, we have a setlist to match.
Plus our famously reliable skeleton drummer — always on stage, always on time, never asks for a raise.
The lineup

Paul “Mossy” Moss
Lead Vocals & Harmonica
Paul fronts Shabby Road with a distinctive vocal style shaped by decades of live performance. Formerly of Bournemouth favourites Jak the Lad and a regular at Mr. Kyps, he brings energy, warmth and a natural connection with audiences. Alongside his lead vocals, Paul also plays harmonica — adding an extra layer of colour and authenticity to the band’s acoustic sound.

Simon Richardson
6 & 12-String Electro-Acoustic Guitars, Backing Vocals
Simon brings both experience and versatility to Shabby Road. A former member of Hertfordshire band Red Diesel, he also spent eight years performing semi-professionally across the Middle East, playing everything from hotel residencies to large-scale events. His rhythmic acoustic style and harmony vocals form a core part of the Shabby Road sound, adding depth, drive and texture to every performance.

Geoff Stevens
Electric Bass Guitar
Geoff brings depth, groove and decades of live experience to Shabby Road. A former member of Bournemouth favourites Jak the Lad, his warm, melodic bass lines form the backbone of the Shabby Road sound.

Derek Bones
Drums (sort of)
Shabby Road’s loyal, uncomplaining fourth member. He never misses a beat, never asks for a solo, and always looks cool under stage lights. A running joke and a fan favourite — he travels with us, and he’s always part of the show.
