About

Shabby Road — Geoff, Simon and Paul

A trio of music veterans, an acoustic sound, and one very loyal skeleton.

Based in East Dorset, Shabby Road came together in late 2024 with one goal: to play great songs that get people singing along. Though the band is new, we certainly aren't — between us we share nearly a century of live music experience and thousands of gigs.

Local music fans might recognise Paul and Geoff from the legendary Bournemouth band Jak the Lad. Simon brings huge experience from his time with Hertfordshire band Red Diesel, plus eight years performing semi-professionally across the Middle East — from hotel residencies to large-scale events.

We pride ourselves on versatility. Because we use electro-acoustic guitars mixed with electric bass, we can shift gear easily — just as comfortable rocking a packed pub as providing a relaxed soundtrack to a garden party.

The music

Covering the golden era from the 1960s through the 1990s, our repertoire stretches across Rock, Pop, Soul, Reggae and Ska. Whether you want a packed Saturday-night singalong or a laid-back Sunday afternoon, we have a setlist to match.

Expect songs from The Beatles, The Eagles, Billy Joel, Bob Marley, Otis Redding, Paul Weller, Queen, The Specials, Van Morrison, Bill Withers — and many more.

Drums (sort of)

Shabby Road’s loyal, uncomplaining fourth member. He never misses a beat, never asks for a solo, and always looks cool under stage lights. A running joke and a fan favourite — he travels with us, and he’s always part of the show.
